RADFORD, VA – Kollmorgen is pleased to announce the latest release of Kollmorgen Automation Suite. The IDE Version 2.7 adds a number of new runtime features and dozens of IDE enhancements that provide higher performance solutions and accelerate machine integration for OEMs. Design engineers use Kollmorgen Automation Suite to quickly and easily program and refine most automated functions, including line shafting, gearing and camming. The Suite is also used to fluidly incorporate specified Kollmorgen and 3rd party components, including software, controls, HMI, I/O, drives, motors and mechanicals. Within the company's current installation base, Kollmorgen Automation Suite has proven to dramatically improve machine throughput — typically by 25% or more.
Among the most prominent of the new Kollmorgen Automation Suite 2.7 features is an embedded EtherCAT configuration tool that can greatly accelerate the development of modular or variable machine architectures. Using integrated screens for device scan and network configuration, the EtherCAT configuration tool allows integrators and OEMs to setup their own ECAT systems and fully configure all devices from one single development tool without need for 3rd party software. This configuration tool enables much faster integration of the machine control system by simplifying setup and programming, and eliminating the time-consuming configuration of diverse off-the-shelf components. Kollmorgen Automation Suite 2.7 supports non-standard ESI files, and supports the addition of 3rd party I/O and custom EtherCAT devices on the network.
The product release also offers enhanced performance with Kollmorgen's next-generation HMI panels and software. The new Kollmorgen AKI series HMI panels feature a 16:9 aspect ratio and are available in screen sizes from 4" to 21". Providing higher performance, better resolution and a lower price than comparable HMIs, the new AKI panels offer 30% more viewable area than traditional panels. The HMI front panels are UL, CE, lP65 rated, and the screen and bezel are mated flush for a smooth finish that avoids foreign matter build-up. The Kollmorgen Visualization Builder (KVB) 2.0 HMI software for these panels is included in the new release. Key improved visualization tools include: trend charts, roller panels, animations, new connectivity options, and easier mounting. The Kollmorgen HMI solution is scalable to meet requirements for any machine – ARM9 to Intel Core CPU.
Additional capability enhancements include:
Support for Kollmorgen Safety Modules. These are stand-alone modules that deliver programmable Safety PLC and Safe IO for single or multi-axes systems. Safety modules are TÛV certified for machines up to ISO 13849 PLe and IEC 61508 SIL3 level functionality.
AKD® PDMM with doubled power range to 24 A continuous current. This enables any power and voltage variant of AKD drives to operate with the embedded Kollmorgen Automation Suite controller.
Interpolated motion capability using PLC open coordinated motion blocks. Fully compliant with IEC-61131 Part 4, these 2-D linear and circular moves can be used to coordinate the motion in a Cartesian system for such operations as gluing, cutting, material laying, and inspection stations.
