Original Press Release:

Audio DSP Kit from Freescale Speeds and Simplifies Development on Symphony Processors

AUSTIN, TX., December 18, 2007 - Freescale Semiconductor has enhanced the power of Symphony audio DSPs with the release of Symphony Studio software and the Symphony SoundBite development kit, both now available.

Symphony Studio software gives DSP programmers a fresh way to develop, debug and simulate applications using an extensible integrated development environment (IDE) that makes product creation faster and easier. Utilizing the open source Eclipse platform, Symphony Studio software works with Freescale's Symphony audio DSPs including the recently introduced multi-core DSP5672x devices. Symphony software can be downloaded at www.freescale.com/symphonystudio.

User-friendly and more compact than Symphony Studio software is Freescale's Symphony SoundBite development kit - a solution that provides a low-cost entry point into high-end DSP solutions. The kit is ideal for cost-sensitive applications, independent design houses, small development shops and college laboratories.

The Symphony SoundBite development kit ships with the Symphony DSPB56371 DSP on a small form-factor PCB with a 256KB serial (I2C) EEPROM memory, mini USB interface and DIP switches for user inputs. The kit includes the Symphony SoundBite evaluation board, a mini USB cable and a CD-ROM with the software and documentation needed to get started today.

The Symphony SoundBite Development Kit is available for purchase today on the Freescale website at www.freescale.com/symphony. Suggested resale price is $150 (USD).
