APS America Introduces the Industry's Smallest 2-Inch Kiosk Printer Module

CARSON, Calif. (September 23, 2004) - Advanced Printing Systems (APS), a global leader in the thermal printing industry, has introduced the KCP 200 Series Kiosk Compact Printer, a complete solution that easily prints, cuts, presents and retracts paper for trouble-free receipts and coupons. This innovative printer ranks among the industry's smallest and most cost-effective printing modules.

"The KCP 200 is a revolutionary product," said Dennis Montagutelli, APS vice-president engineering. "It's the first kiosk printer to feature a fixable blade cutter presenting system, instead of a mechanical guillotine cutter and presenter which require more maintenance. This innovation allowed us to reduce product size and cost to approximately 30 percent less than the competition.

Designed for cost-conscious applications like kiosks, ATMs, parking and panel mount printers where reliability and compactness are important -- the KCP 200 is the industry's smallest module. It measures 96 mm (W) x 70mm (H) x89mm (D) with no additional space required for paper loop. The printer operates through serial (RS232) interface via 24V power supply. The print speed of the mechanism is up to 80mm/second with 203 dpi print resolution.

Equipped with a patented "pinch roller" system to safeguard against end user misuse or problematic external conditions for paper such as high humidity or electrostatic discharge, the KCP 200 ensures the highest level of protection against paper jams. The KCP 200 guarantees long-term reliable performance with a high-quality print head (50km of paper abrasion) and its extremely reliable fixed blade cutter (minimum 500k cuts).

Available immediately, the KCP 200 is priced at $349.00 for 1 - 99 units. A "near end of paper" opto sensor is available as an option. Windows XP, 2000, NT drivers are available upon request. An addition to this series, the KCP 300 series (3 inch/80mm) will be available in the first quarter of 2005.
