Belden® Expands Homechoice(TM) Line to Include UL-Verified Keypad/Control & Siamese Composite Cables



RICHMOND, IN. -Belden Electronics Division, a worldwide leader in the development of wire and cable products for a wide range of home automation, communications, entertainment, industrial and network applications, announces the addition of Keypad/Control and Siamese composite cables to the HomeChoice(TM) product line. These composite cables are UL-verified to meet Category 5e or Category 5 requirements when installed in accordance with TIA/EIA-570-A (Residential Telecommunications Cabling Standard). By bundling high performance voice, data and video cables into a single composite cable, cabling guesswork is eliminated for "Intelligent Home" and "Smart" office/commercial installations - plus these cables offer installation simplicity.

Belden HomeChoice Keypad/Control Cables are designed to interface with all major touch panel control brands and cable distribution boxes and a variety of automated systems and devices such as home theatre/entertainment systems, computer networks, lighting, window and security systems. The four new high-performance, high-reliability Keypad/Control cables include:

o Belden 7949A UL verified to Cat 5e, consisting of one Cat 5e cable plus four 16 AWG conductors.

o Belden 7950A UL verified to Cat 5, consisting of one Cat 5 cable plus four 16 AWG conductors.

o Belden 7951A UL verified to Cat 5, consisting of one Cat 5 cable plus four 18 AWG conductors.

o Belden 7952A UL verified to Cat 5, consisting of one Cat 5 cable plus four 14 AWG conductors in a Siamese design.

Belden HomeChoice Composite cables also provide high-end performance and signal integrity. Additionally, these cables offer particular value by utilizing a unique, simplified jacketing construction. The new Siamese cables include:

o Belden 7911A UL verified to Cat 5e, consisting of one Cat 5e cable plus one Series 6 Duobond Plus® coax.

o Belden 7912A UL verified to Cat 5, consisting of one Cat 5 cable plus one Series 6 Duobond® IV Quad Shield coax.

Some of Belden's networking cables feature a unique and patented bonded-pair design that yields a number of performance advantages over standard UTP cable -- including the ability to operate at high frequencies with exceptional performance characteristics relative to attenuation, power sum NEXT, ACR headroom, and return loss. Unbonded-pair designs are also available in the HomeChoice product line.

All Belden HomeChoice Keypad and Siamese cables feature green flame-retardant PVC jackets, the jackets are sequentially marked to eliminate guesswork and waste during installation, and a ripcord is included under the jacket to make removal quick and easy. The new cabling is available on 1000- and 500-ft. reels, plus all HomeChoice cables feature a 10-year warranty.
