Keylock Switches suit high-density mounting applications.

Press Release Summary:

Series SK PCB-mount switches are used in low-voltage, low-current, logic-level circuits. Insert-molded terminals seal out flux, solvents, and contaminants. Available in single-pole configurations, subminiature switches are antistatic and completely sealed. Miniature keylocks can be configured with momentary or maintained circuits, in single-pole or double-pole models, and with double-throw or 3-throw circuits. All are rated 0.4 Va @ 28 Vac/dc.

Original Press Release:

NKK Switches' New, Versatile Keylock Switches Suitable for a Wide Array of Applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Feb. 3, 2002) - NKK Switches continues to expand its selection of switch offerings with the SK series of PCB mount, keylock switches. Designed for use in low-voltage, low-current, logic-level circuits, the SK series switches serve engineers faced with applications that require high-density mounting.

Available in miniature and subminiature sizes, the SK series models are suited for the industrial, commercial, aerospace, computer, peripheral, instrumentation and security industries.

All of NKK's SK series models feature a positive detent mechanism to ensure crisp actuation and an accurate setting. The contacts are self-wiping, which provide these keylock switches with unequalled switching reliability. In addition, the SK series' insert-molded terminals seal out flux, solvents and other contaminants.

The miniature and subminiature SK series switches are designed for use in safe, automated wave soldering and washing. Adding protection to the keylock tumblers during the automated washing process, all models feature a gasket between the base and housing.

Available in single-pole configurations, and with three or five position maintained circuits, the SK series subminiature switches are antistatic and process compatible with a completely sealed construction. To allow vapor phase and infrared reflow soldering, the 9-mm bushing and housing are constructed of heat-resistant glass fiber and reinforced polyamide. Angle of throw is 45°.

The subminiature keylock switches can be specified with straight-PC or right-angle PC mount terminals. The .100-inch X .100-inch pin spacing conforms to standard PC board grid spacing.

To guarantee secure mounting as well as prevent dislodging during automated wave soldering, all SK series subminiature models feature crimped brackets. In addition, each of these subminiature switches comes standard with two keys, which are removable in all positions.

Slightly larger than the antistatic, subminiature models, the SK miniature keylocks feature a 12-mm, nickel-plated bushing. These low-security keylocks can be configured with momentary or maintained circuits, in single-pole or double-pole models, and with double-throw or three-throw circuits. Available bracketed terminals are straight-PC or right-angle PC mount.

Providing unparalleled flexibility, engineers can specify removable keys in one, two or all three positions. The process-compatible, miniature keylock switches feature antistatic, plastic-handled or all metal key styles and come standard with a disposable boot for a safe-washing process.

All SK series subminiature and miniature keylock switches are rated 0.4VA @ 28V AC/DC.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than three million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches.
