NKK Switches Tightens Security with Keylock Switch Series

Highly reliable switches feature patented vertically-rotating switching mechanism

Scottsdale, AZ (June 26, 2003) - Expanding its portfolio of high-security switches, NKK Switches offers the CK Series, a series of panel mount keylocks in 19mm and 16mm diameter bushing options ideal for industrial, commercial, communication and instrumentation applications.

The CK series features high reliability with two distinct design attributes, the vertically-rotating switching mechanism and the self cleaning sliding contacts. These features ensure long operating life, smooth operation and guaranteed circuit contact. The interior construction provides a seal further protecting the contact area. The 4- and 5-tumbler locking mechanisms enhance the suitability of the CK series for high security applications. High dielectric strength of 1,500 volts between contacts and case is guaranteed.

The 19mm diameter bushing CKL, featuring a 4-tumbler locking mechanism option, is constructed of a rugged, die-cast zinc alloy with chrome plating for higher security applications. The 16mm diameter bushing CKM models are constructed of fiberglass reinforced PBT with the static capability to withstand 15 kilovolts ESD and include a 5-tumbler locking mechanism.

The CK series is rated 3 amps at 250 volts AC. Available in single pole, the two position models feature a 90-degree angle of throw. The three position models feature a 45-degree angle of throw. Circuit options are ON-ON or ON-OFF-ON. Choices include keys removable in one or two positions depending on circuit selection. ON OFF ON models with tubular keys have push-and-lock mechanisms allowing the contactor to drop and slide over the stationary contacts. Terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux and other contaminants.

Available in flat or tubular key styles, the flat key is reversible for easier setting. Keys are supplied with randomly assigned key numbers. One key is provided with each switch. No master key is available. Additional keys can be ordered by specifying the key number engraved on the switch.

The CK series feature double flatted bushings that sit securely in the panel. They have an operating temperature range of -25°C through +70°C. The CKM models can withstand humidity at 90 ~ 95% for 240 hours and the CKL for 96 hours at 40°C.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than three million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches.
