NKK Switches Announces SK Series of PCB Mount Keylock Devices

Subminiature and Miniature Sizes Offer Designers Flexibility

Scottsdale, Ariz. (January 31, 2006) - NKK Switches, a leading designer of electromechanical switches, and its global network of authorized distributors are pleased to present the SK series of PCB mount keylock switches.

The SK series is available in subminiature and miniature sizes both designed to ensure safe automated wave soldering for process compatibility. The terminals are insert molded, locking out flux, solvents and other contaminants. In addition, all options include a gasket placed between the base and the housing to further protect the keylock tumblers during the automated cleaning process.

All models feature a positive detent mechanism providing a distinct feel for crisp actuation and an accurate setting. The contacts are self-cleaning, providing these keylock switches with unequalled switching reliability. The SK series' small body size makes them an obvious choice for applications requiring high-density mounting.

The SK subminiature size models are antistatic and completely process compatible with a totally sealed construction. The bushing and housing are constructed of heat resistant glass fiber reinforced polyester and can withstand over 15 kilovolts of electrostatic discharge. These versions are available in single pole configurations, including three and five position maintained circuits. The key is removable in all positions with an angle throw of 45°. The bushing is 9mm in diameter and the switches can be specified with straight PC or right angle PC mount terminals. Pin spacing is .100" X .100" conforming to standard PC board grid spacing. All subminiature models feature crimped brackets to ensure secure mounting and to prevent dislodging during automated wave soldering. Two keys are provided standard with each switch.

The SK miniature size keylock switches are slightly larger than the antistatic subminiature models and feature a 12mm, nickel-plated bushing. These low security keylocks can be configured with momentary or maintained circuits, in single-pole or double-pole models, with double throw or three throw circuits. Available terminations are bracketed straight PC or right angle PC mounts. Engineers can specify keys removable in one, two or all three positions, giving design engineers unparalleled flexibility. These process compatible keylock devices offer two different key styles; an antistatic plastic handled key supplied as standard or an all metal key depending on design requirements. The SK series of miniature keylocks come standard with a disposable plastic boot for a safe cleaning process and with two plastic handled keys.

All SK series subminiature and miniature keylock switches are rated 0.4VA @ 28V AC/DC. They are designed for use in low-voltage, low-current, and logic level circuits. Industry applications include, but are not limited to, industrial and commercial, aerospace, computers and peripherals, instrumentation and security.
