Cirque Expands Touchpad Technology Line to Include GlideTouch Micro Keyboard Module

Innovative Keyboard Functionality Provides Competitive Edge to Device Manufacturers for a Broad Range of Applications

SALT LAKE CITY - Jan. 7, 2002 - Cirque Corp., a leader of customized input technology solutions for the consumer market and digital device manufacturers, today announced the expansion of its Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) product line to include the GlideTouch Micro Keyboard(tm) (GMK 100I) module. Based on GlidePoint® technology, the GMK 100I module is a customizable keyboard and cursoring device that can be adapted across multiple market segments that require innovative input solutions, such as mobile devices, industrial controls, kiosks
and security applications, among others.

As with Cirque's touchpad modules, the Micro Keyboard module features rugged durability for extreme environments and capacitive touch pointing capability, meaning the keyboard responds to the centermost point of the finger, alleviating hand or finger strain as well as dual key activation. Cirque can customize the module to also include cursoring capabilities in conjunction with the use of the keyboard, which can function as a navigation tool. A simple toggle button allows the user to quickly switch between either operating mode with a single touch of the finger. The module can be designed to accommodate different layouts, alphanumeric characters and symbols. Cirque's
quality service teams are available to work closely with design
engineers to integrate the GMK 100I module into their designs.

"Cirque is dedicated to constantly develop affordable and innovative input applications based on our GlidePoint technology. The company has proven this ability by its successful line of single-chip touchpad technology that is used in various industries," said Richard Clasen, Cirque's president and CEO. "Our goal is to provide alternative input solutions that can help design engineers realize their vision of the next killer device." The keyboard module is durable, yet small and
lightweight measuring 3.37 inches x 2.32 inches and weighing 7 ounces. The GMK module uses serial RS232 or serial TTL communication protocols. Cirque's Micro Keyboard technology along with its proprietary software enables it to work with Palm Operating System, Pocket PC and Linux platforms.
