Kentucky Department of Education Approves J.W. Speaker LED Headlights for School Buses
Eliminating halogen headlamps for LED could improve forward visibility for bus drivers by eliminating dark areas

This approval came from the Kentucky Department of Education after Walton-Verona Independent Schools petitioned on behalf of J.W. Speaker for the installation of Model 8900 and 8910 5” x 7” and Model 8700 7” LED headlights.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are an average of 128 school-transportation-related fatalities each year. Of those, nine percent are occupants of school transportation vehicles and 20 percent are pedestrians, bicyclists, etc. These statistics, among others, prompted Walton-Verona Independent Schools to present an independent assessment of J.W. Speaker lights to the Department of Education in February 2019.
