Kelvin Probe works with test sockets.

Press Release Summary:

Enabling engineers to accurately space and measure package resistance within 1 mOhm, Off-Set Kelvin Probe features beveled tip offset needle that allows for tight centers down to 0.2 mm. Tungsten alloy probe has 4-wire Kelvin design and uses standard 0.5 mm board layout. Tip naturally repels solder and is ultra-sharp for contaminant penetration. No plating is required.

Synergetix Introduces the Off-Set Kelvin Probe for 0.5 mm Test Sockets

Kansas City, KS- Synergetix, a leading designer and manufacturer of test sockets and custom interconnects, announces the introduction of the patent pending 0.5 mm pitch Off-Set Kelvin Probe. The new patent pending design allows those test engineers involved in Kelvin testing to accurately space and measure package resistance within 1 mOhm, while taking advantage of conventional DUT board designs.

The key design advancement of this new probe is the beveled tip offset needle that allows for tighter centers, down to 0.2 mm, on the device pad. The needle is constructed with revolutionary tungsten alloy that which extends probe life, therefore decreasing the total cost of ownership. The alloy is 300% harder than the standard, gold plated beryllium copper used on conventional probes.

"Synergetix set the industry standard with three-piece probe design," said Jamie Andes, Semiconductor Product Manager for IDI/Synergetix. "Now we raise the bar again. The Off-Set Kelvin probe simplifies Kelvin testing, it lasts longer and it lets you measure minuscule changes in resistance."

The Off-Set Kelvin Probe, now available for use in Synergetix Test Sockets, features several other significant benefits, including:
o The tip naturally repels solder and is ultra-sharp for contaminant penetration.
o Uses standard 0.5 mm board layout so the customer does not have to make a difficult and expensive 0.25 mm pitch board.
o Use of a larger, more robust spring probe design.
o No plating is required so probe performance is not dependent on tip plating.
o A "Four-Wire" Kelvin design breakthrough that overcomes the shortcomings of current options.
