Kansas City Power & Light Chooses WorkForce Software

WorkForce Software Automates Time and Attendance for 1,500-plus Contractors

LIVONIA, Mich., Oct. 12 // -- WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise time and attendance software systems, announced today that Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) signed a contract for its automated web-based Time and Attendance solution and services.

KCP&L, a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Incorporated, is a leading regulated provider of energy-related products and services for approximately 500,000 retail customers in Missouri and Kansas. KCP&L licensed WorkForce Software's Time and Attendance and Labor Distribution software. It is preparing to begin construction on a coal-fired power plant scheduled for completion in 2010 and needed a new time and attendance solution that could support 1,500 contractors on the system at any one time throughout the project.

"Our time and attendance system requirements have grown and we need a new solution to meet the demanding requirements of this project," said Kenneth Luebbert, lead controls, KCP&L. "WorkForce Software's Time and Attendance system has the flexibility and functionality to effectively track who is on site at any given time."

One key feature provided by WorkForce is the integration of the gate entry card with the time and attendance software to control access to the building. "This is an important safety feature for a project of this scale because we need to know precisely who is on site at any given time," said Luebbert. "The software will also act as a time tracking auditor. For example, if eight hours are logged in by a contractor on a specific date, the software will verify when he/she swiped in and out."

WorkForce Software's Labor Distribution module will automate the process of allocating time worked to cost centers, projects, tasks, and work orders to help manage labor costs. The software accommodates an unlimited number of distribution fields, so it can easily support the 1,500-plus contractors and the projects they will be working on.

"We are pleased to have KCP&L use our software for such a critical business function," said CEO Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software. "By selecting WorkForce Software, KCP&L reinforces our position as the leader in time and attendance solutions for utilities. A key reason utilities choose WorkForce is the flexibility of our solution to meet complex rules and changing requirements over time. As KCP&L's requirements grow, they can be confident our software will meet their ongoing needs. We look forward to implementing our solution and to developing a long-term relationship with KCP&L."
