Kaivac Enters Battery Powered AutoVac System Into ISSA Innovation Contest

Evolving Market Sectors an Indication of Machine's Innovation

Hamilton, OH – Kaivac is entering its lithium-ion powered AutoVac floorcare system into this year's ISSA Innovation Award program in the "equipment" category.

The AutoVac system is designed to replicate a traditional automatic scrubber but at a fraction of the cost.

The flagship machine of Kaivac's OmniFlex Crossover Cleaning equipment line, the AutoVac includes a specially engineered self-dispensing trolley bucket to release cleaning solution directly to the floor. Attached and behind the trolley bucket is the spreader pad that spreads cleaning solution over the floor and then vacuums up moisture and soils as the machine is rolled over the floor, thoroughly and without streaking.

According to Tom Morrison, vice president of marketing for Kaivac, the AutoVac has become one of Kaivac's most popular new products, appreciated by users primarily because of the following:

 • The AutoVac costs about 70 percent less than a walk behind auto scrubber

 • Tests indicate it has higher productivity rates than a 36-inch auto scrubber, according to ISSA Cleaning Times

 • Practical productivity rates (meaning real world) for battery operated system can clean 20,000 square feet per hour

 • Independent tests prove it removes soil as effectively, if not better, than a traditional auto scrubber*

 • "Plug and Play," one button operation

 • Minimal training requirements

 • Requires no mops; cleaning solution remains fresh and effective throughout the cleaning process

•Â Floors do not need to be swept or vacuumed before cleaning

 • Can be transformed into multiple cleaning configurations

"It's been interesting to note the different market sectors that have shown an interest in the AutoVac over time," says Morrison. "First it was education, healthcare, and fitness, then hospitality, cleaning contractors, and now retailers. This market 'evolution' alone suggests this is quite an innovative machine."

*Tests were conducted by the TURI Surface Solutions Laboratory at the University of Massachusetts; tests revealed that "the average reduction in ATP... [with the AutoVac system was 98 percent," nearly identical to an automatic scrubber.
