K-Tron to Exhibit Pharmaceutical Conveying and Feeding Systems at Interphex 2011, March 29-31, Jacob Javits, NY, Booth 3637

PITMAN, NJ - K-Tron will exhibit the latest sanitary feeding and pneumatic conveying equipment and systems at Interphex 2011, March 29-31, Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York City, booth 3637. Demos on display include a full system running a KT20 Pharmaceutical Feeder and K-Tron Premier P10 sanitary receiver, MT12 Micro-Ingredient Feeder, T35 Pharmaceutical Feeder with ActiFlow, and K-Tron Premier P30 powder receiver. Powder Handling System: Pharmaceutical KT20 Twin-Screw Feeder with P10 receiver
K-Tron will exhibit the KT20 pharmaceutical feeder running with a K-Tron Premier P10 receiver. The KT20 is a twin-screw pharmaceutical feeder that offers gravimetric feeding of free flowing to very hard flowing powders. The feeder offers interchangeable feed screws that are tailored to the material being fed. All parts in contact with the material being fed are stainless steel and unit is easy to disassemble. The horizontal agitator prevents bridging and moves material to the discharge screws. Demo also features K-Tron Premier's sanitary P10 receiver, providing a custom solution for difficult conveying applications. Other applications for the P-Series include tablet conveying, loss-in-weight feeder refill, as well as tablet press and blender loading.

ActiFlow(TM) Smart Bulk Solids Activator Material Flow Aid
The pharmaceutical ActiFlow design is a non-product contact device, consisting of a patent-pending vibratory drive and intelligent control unit, designed specifically to work with K-Tron's pharmaceutical line of gravimetric loss-in-weight feeders. The ActiFlow is mounted outside the product contact area, reducing additional cleaning which might result with internal agitators or flex wall type devices. The ActiFlow works in concert with K-Tron's patented Smart Force Transducer (SFT) weigh scales. K-Tron's advanced filtering algorithms are used to screen out vibrations, ensuring an accurate weight signal even with the ActiFlow running. The ActiFlow is used in loss-in-weight (gravimetric) feeding applications. For more information visit www.ktron.com/ActiFlow.

K-Tron Quick-Clean Hygienic Aerolock(TM)
The K-Tron Quick-Clean Hygienic Aerolock(TM) (QCH) rotary valve is specially designed for sanitary pharmaceutical applications requiring the metering of pharmaceutical powders where frequent cleaning and ease of operation is imperative. This low capacity rotary valve offers a highly polished surface on both the interior and exterior of the unit, with all product surfaces FDA approved. The valve is constructed from a solid piece of DIN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel and can be easily disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. All models conform to ATEX 94/9 EC and are available in three sizes: 80 mm (3 in), 100 mm (4") and 150 mm (6"). The 80 mm (3 in) and 100 mm (4") valve have a removable full end disc six-blade rotor with rounded pockets and tri-clamp flange connections. The 150 mm (6") valve offers a removable open end eight-blade rotor design with rounded pockets and DN150 (6 in) flange connection drilled according to PN 6. All standard units are available with inboard bearings and a direct drive with PTFE lip seals to ensure shaft seal. The QCH is suitable for handling products up to 100° C (212° F) and volumetric efficiency at up to 1.0 bar (15 PSI) pressure differential.

K-Tron MT12 Micro-Ingredient Feeder: For Low Rate Micro-ingredient Feeding
The MT12 Micro-Ingredient Feeder is available in both pharmaceutical and standard models, for accurately feeding free flowing to difficult to handle powders at rates as low as 20 grams / hour and as high as 2000 grams/ hour. Both loss-in-weight (model KCL-SFS-MT12) and volumetric (model KCV-MT12) feeder models are available for continuous or batch operation, with loss-in-weight model on display. The compact feeder is designed for ease of disassembly, allowing fast and easy cleaning, with options available for automatic refill. Typical applications include feeding jet mills, tablet presses, continuous extrusion processes and any application where expensive micro ingredients require accurate feeding.

KT20 Twin Screw Pharmaceutical Feeder: New and Improved Ingredient Feeding
K-Tron has implemented a number of design enhancements to the Pharmaceutical KT20, as well as engineering specialty designs integrating the KT20 into glove box applications. Engineering design improvements include:

o Improved screw shaft seal design with O Ring
o Standard seal purge fittings assuring no migration of product to bearing area
o Improved drainage design for CIP
o New scale design with pre-wired motor cables and pre-fitted air purge lines
o Intrinsic safe option for European ATEX 2GD and U.S. Class I Div 1 hazardous area applications.

K-Tron Premier P-Series Receivers: Solutions for Difficult Material Applications
K-Tron Premier P-Series receivers provide a sanitary solution for difficult material conveying applications. The sanitary design features include steep cone angles to ensure excellent discharge and band clamps for quick disassembly. The conveying principle includes vacuum, dilute phase, and dense phase. Conveying rates vary depending on model, product characteristics and conveying distances. Typical materials include tablets, capsules, flakes, free-flowing to poorly flowing powders, and materials requiring gentle conveying. Model on display includes a running P10 and P30 in mirror finish.
