April 04, 2007

Jotun, one of the world's leading producers and suppliers of paints, coatings and powder coatings, is displaying its entire range of interior and exterior paints and protective coatings at Project Qatar 2007, the largest trade exhibition in the country. The company is participating in the fourth edition of Project Qatar 2007 in a bid to build on its market stronghold in the region and tap the country's infrastructure development projects valued at USD 50 billion. Jotun is present at stand E-30 at the exhibition, which will be held from April 2-5 at the Qatar International Exhibition Center (QIEC).

"As the largest specialized show for the country's construction sector, Project Qatar holds considerable business potential, which we are keen to leverage to further our strategic objectives," said Gunnar Eikebu, Manager, Jotun, Qatar. "The show attracts leading developers and industry professionals from all over the region, presenting us just the right platform to scout for new alliances and projects and showcase our range of products and services to a high-potential audience."

Jotun Paints, in association with its channel partners in Qatar, has been involved in major events including the recently concluded Doha Asian Games 2006, where it was the paint supplier of choice. Jotun's Fenomastic and Jotashield range were selected by the event's Ceremony Committee for the opening and closing ceremonies, while 60,000 square meters of Jotun's unique 'Jotafloor Traffic Deck System' was used for the state-of-the-art Khalifa Stadium, which was built 3 years ago in preparation for the Asian Games. Further, Jotashield Primer and Jotashield 07 were used to decorate 10 water towers in Qatar with various themes representing the internationally acclaimed sports event.

Known as the most eco-friendly paint company in the world, Jotun Paints is a founding member of the Emirates Green Building Council established in July 2006, an indication of its longstanding commitment to improving the environment through eco-friendly production methods and products.

"Qatar is fast emerging as one of the world's booming construction locations and presents a strategically important market potential. The country is poised to follow the UAE and diversify from an oil-driven economy to a multifaceted one; and the Qatari government is setting the pace by creating clearly-defined policies and earmarking a huge amount for infrastructure projects to be implemented in a specific timetable. These have resulted to a tremendous growth and frenetic activity in the construction sector, driving up demand for high-quality paints and coatings," concluded Eikebu.

Jotun is a global group with 67 companies and 39 production facilities on five continents. Jotun develops, produces and sells cost-effective paint and coating products, and provides customer service and technical support, to residential, marine and industrial markets worldwide. Jotun's Single Source Solution protects and presents many of the world's most prestigious and complex structures both on land and offshore, including the Eiffel Tower, the Burj Al Arab, the China Opera House, the Nile City Complex and the Kingdom Center.
