Johnson Controls to Provide Building and Security Systems to U.S. Department of Defense


MILWAUKEE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has notified Johnson Controls, (NYSE: JCI), the global leader in delivering products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, that the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center of Huntsville, Ala. has awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems, LLC (JCBAS).

Under this IDIQ Electronic Security Systems V (ESS V) contract, Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems, LLC (JCBAS) will compete with five other awardees on the projects totaling $650 million. The scope of projects will include the procurement and installation of systems and equipment at U.S. Department of Defense installations worldwide, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, building controls, physical security systems and products, fire alarm and life safety systems, anti-terrorism measures, and force protection. The contract scope will also include chemical, biological and radiological detection, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), metering and mass notification systems.

In addition to the prime contract, Johnson Controls is a key subcontractor to Evergreen Fire Alarms, LLC, of Tacoma, Wash., which has been awarded an ESS V contract under the restricted (small business) procurement with a shared value of $250 million.
