Johnson Controls Adds Features to Simplify Consumers' 'Training' of HomeLink® Systems

Innovative voice-prompt features to be unveiled at 2007 North American International Auto Show
DETROIT, Jan. 9 - Johnson Controls' HomeLink® Wireless Control System - which is installed in millions of vehicles worldwide - is now easier and faster for consumers to "train." The company's popular HomeLink product will soon be available with a more intuitive, voice-prompted training technology that can be activated by pushing any button on the device. It eliminates the need to reference the owner's manual to program the HomeLink system.
The latest advancements to the HomeLink system were unveiled today by Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) officials at the 2007 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Michigan. It is on display at the company's product and technology exhibit in room D2-15 of Cobo Center.
Johnson Controls' HomeLink system is integrated into a vehicle's overhead console, sun visor or other areas of the interior, and can be used to remotely operate garage doors, estate gates, locks, home security and lighting systems. Currently, 35 million consumers use Johnson Controls' HomeLink system in their vehicles.
With the introduction today of HomeLink® with VoiceTrain(TM) and Bluetooth-enabled HomeLink with VoiceTrain, consumers can be prompted automatically through a quick, step-by-step process of training the device to their home-based products and systems. The audio training is activated at the push of a button. The HomeLink® with BlueConnect® voice recognition capabilities, combined with in-vehicle displays assist in training while instructions are played over the vehicle's audio system via a Bluetooth connection. These latest HomeLink features will be available for installation in 2010 model-year vehicles.

Last year, the HomeLink product's QuickTrain feature came from an investment in the access-control industry technology that enables and supports it. The technology is available only through Johnson Controls. With the addition of QuickTrain technology, training the HomeLink module is much easier and takes less time.
Beginning in 2004, leading garage door opener manufacturer Chamberlain implemented Johnson Controls' HomeLink Wireless Control System with QuickTrain technology into their access control systems. Wayne-Dalton and Genie/Overhead Door currently have the technology targeted for implementation. The company's established relationships with the access control industry deliver a compatibility rate that ensures consumers will experience consistent and outstanding performance.
The HomeLink system with the new QuickTrain technology currently is available on five 2007 model vehicles from two major automakers. In addition, it will debut in several additional vehicles from other major automakers in fall 2007 and 2008.
