Metabo's New Variable Speed JIG Saw Offers Increased Cutting Capacity and Operator Comfort

West Chester, PA, December 1, 2004 - Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced a new variable speed jig saw that cuts to depths of 5-1/4" in wood, and has a new padded top handle grip for improved operator comfort and control. The STEB135 Plus jig saw is ideally suited for cutting a wide range of materials including wood, metal and plexiglass.

The new STEB135 Plus, with 5-stage orbital blade motion for maximum cutting speed, efficiency, and extended blade life, now cuts even thicker materials, including up to 5-1/4" in wood, 1-3/8" in non-ferrous metal and 3/8" in sheet steel. The STEB 135 Plus comes with Metabo's Vario Constamatic (VC) full-wave electronic speed control, so cutting speed remains nearly constant under load. Its dial-actuated variable speed control delivers 1,000-3,000 no-load 1" strokes per minute for effective cutting of wood, timber-based materials, plastics and light metals.

The STE105 Plus is designed for maximum flexibility and control. The positive locks at 15°, 30°, and 45° on the beveling sole plate make the STEB135 Plus a versatile and accurate cutting tool for a variety of cutting roles.

The jig saw's grooved needle bearing roller guides minimize lateral blade movement to increase cutting accuracy. Blade drive design doubles as a blower to continuously blow away sawdust for clear visibility at the cutting line. The STEB135 Plus also features Metabo's "Quick" blade changing system for easy tool-free blade changes, auto-stop carbon brushes, and a vacuum dust collection system.

The new tool features a 6.1 Amp motor and 62 inch-lbs. of torque, and weighs only 6.2 lbs. The jig saw comes equipped with a carrying case and an anti-splintering insert, as well as a jig saw blade and Allen wrench.
