JD.Com Introduces Industry's First Always-on Wake Word Bluetooth Headset with EOS S3 Platform

New smart headset integrates the QuickLogic EOS S3 voice and sensor platform

Sunnyvale, Calif., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), a developer of ultra-low power multi-core voice-enabled SoCs, embedded FPGA IP, and Endpoint AI solutions, announced today that JingDong Group's (JD.Com) popular new U-LIFE N1 neck-worn voice-activated Smart Earphone Headset is enabled by the QuickLogic EOS™ S3 Voice and Sensor Processing Platform for always-listening wake word detection. Per FutureSource Consulting, the U-Life N1 ANC is the industry's first always-on wake word Bluetooth® enabled headset. JD.com is headquartered in Beijing and is China's largest online and overall retailer as well as the country's biggest internet company.

The new U-LIFE N1 headset features active noise cancelation and is targeted at consumers with an active lifestyle. It features a streamlined neck-worn design with an intelligent voice assistant which has a voice recognition rate of 95%. The reliability and the accuracy of the headphone enables hands-free operation, allowing users to easily switch between listening to music, taking a phone call using only their voice and providing a functional experience. The embedded QuickLogic EOS S3 device listens for the wake word, and then activates the rest of the device only when necessary – saving power and extending battery life.

"JD.com is the largest online retailer in China, and we're told this product has been selling well with their customer base," said Scott Haylock, marketing director for voice-enabled products at QuickLogic Corporation. "Until now, headset makers could support always-on listening only in over-the-ear headphones, which require much larger batteries. This breakthrough is validation of both the ultra-low power and voice recognition performance made possible with the QuickLogic EOS S3 platform."
