Nexthaus Corporation Releases SyncJe Client Protocol Stack

Nexthaus Corporation announced today its SyncJe Client Protocol Stack, the first Java-based SyncML(TM) certified client for device/appliance manufacturers, applications developers, IT organizations and integrators to include in their offerings.

RALEIGH, May 7, 2002 - Nexthaus' SyncSuite(TM) product line is now joined by a SyncML certified synchronization/data exchange client written in Java. This extends the company's ability to support and manage multiple SyncML and non-SyncML compliant devices. Also a first, the client is Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) compliant for those devices with limited resources, such as mobile phones, PDAs or medical instruments.

Almost immediately after the SyncML standard was introduced, Nexthaus recognized the opportunity for Java enabled devices and applications to utilize the same SyncML protocol stack, and began implementing a Java-based SyncML reference toolkit. The resulting toolkit is now integral to the SyncML client agent,
SyncJe, which facilitates data exchange and synchronization in a heterogeneous environment.

"The benefits of improved time to market, reduced development costs, adherence to standards and a single architecture should be obvious to our partners," noted Leif Petterson, President of Nexthaus. "We have long believed that a single data exchange and synchronization architecture should be the goal. We started with our proprietary SyncSuite product that linked many applications and devices, but the promise of SyncML and Java caused us to expand our strategy. That strategy will now begin yielding dividends for developers, device manufacturers and, ultimately, end users. For real [end user] adoption to occur, the industry must come to agreement on the foundation standards - with Java and SyncML we can begin to proliferate these technologies, enabling more robust inter-connectivity."

SyncJe assures device and application developers that their implementations will work in a SyncML environment. SyncJe's unique architecture allows custom applications to exchange and synchronize data through data interfaces. SyncJe is currently available and licensing negotiations are already underway with customers.
