Japanese Carrier Skynet Asia Airways Selects Goodrich's Carbon Brakes for Boeing 737 Next Generation Aircraft

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) has been selected by Skynet Asia Airways to supply wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of 13 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft. Aircraft deliveries with the Goodrich wheel and carbon brake equipment are expected to begin in June 2011 and continue through 2016.

Goodrich's 737 Next Generation carbon brake uses proprietary DURACARB® carbon heat sink material. The DURACARB® carbon provides exceptional brake performance and a 35% brake life advantage over competitive equipment. The Goodrich wheels and carbon brakes provide a weight savings of approximately 700 pounds (318kg) per aircraft compared to high capacity steel brakes.

Brian Brandewie, president Goodrich Aircraft Wheels and Brakes stated, "We are pleased to have been selected by Skynet Asia Airways to supply our 737 Next Generation wheels and carbon brakes for their new aircraft. Support of their brake overhauls utilizing our worldwide service center network will further provide us the opportunity to deliver an exceptional customer experience."

Toshio Kurokawa, general manager maintenance & engineering said, "As a successful Japanese growing airline, we look forward to realizing the operational and cost benefits of the new Goodrich DURACARB® carbon brakes on our new 737-800 fleet. These new lighter weight wheels and carbon brakes will enhance our competitive position through reduced MRO costs and reduced fuel burn. We are extremely proud to be the first introduction of the environmentally friendly carbon brake to the 737 Next Generation aircraft in Japan."
