Jacoby-Tarbox Celebrates 100th Year Anniversary

STRONGSVILLE, OH – The Clark-Reliance Corporation is honored to announce that its Jacoby-Tarbox® brand of safety sight flow indicators and sight windows has achieved its 100th-year anniversary. Founded in 1914, Jacoby-Tarbox has been a continual innovator in the development of sight flow products to verify industrial process conditions in piping, vessels and equipment. The company was the first to manufacture sight flow indicators in the United States, as well as the first U.S. company to produce rotary sight flow indicators and dual window indicators.

In addition to offering the world's most extensive line of sight flow indicators and windows, Jacoby-Tarbox is well-known for two significant safety innovations: UniGlas® safety sight windows and UniShield® window protection. The UniGlas design, first introduced 30 years ago, features a unique proprietary glass fused to metal optical disc that provides an ultra-tough, pre-stressed impact-resistant glass. UniShield protection is a vacuum-rated shielding that protects sight glass from chemical attack, while acting as an early warning device to indicate changes in the shield before glass integrity is compromised.

"Both Jacoby-Tarbox and its products have stood the test of time," said Rick Solon, Clark-Reliance president. "It is significant that the brand has flourished for over 100 years, but even more remarkable is the success of its products. For example, the UniGlas design has been in service for over three decades. There has yet to be a reported break in the glass over many millions of hours of the most challenging conditions."

Jacoby-Tarbox was acquired by Clark-Reliance Corporation in 1986. All major sight flow indicator styles are offered, including threaded, flanged and other connections, with operating pressures from full vacuum to 5000 psig. Additionally, a complete offering of sight windows and explosion proof sight window lights are manufactured. Jacoby-Tarbox products have extensive application in chemical plants, refineries, pharmaceutical and food manufacturing and rail car unloading. They are routinely used to view or indicate the existence or flow of liquids within vessels, pipes and other industrial process equipment, including fluids such as water to the most hazardous liquids.

Jacoby-Tarbox is a product of the Clark-Reliance Corporation, a world leader in industrial level and control. The company's well-known brands constitute the broadest line of level instrumentation and controls for boilers and other equipment found in utilities, refineries, chemical processing and related industries: Jerguson® liquid level gages and valves, Jacoby-Tarbox® sight flow indicators, Reliance® boiler level controls, Magne-Sonics® level measurement and control products and Clark Steam Specialties. Additionally, Clark-Reliance manufacturers Anderson® Separators, HYCOA transfer valves and duplex lube oil filtration systems, filters, National Filtration Systems® engineered fuel gas filtration / separation systems.
