Jacketed Level Sensor measures 800 chemical products.

Press Release Summary:

LA-H Series, with Metritape resistance-tape technology, converts distance along its length into resistance. Stainless-steel strip sensor has gold contact stripe on face. Strip is wound with gold-plated, nichrome wire to form helix. When liquid contacts sensor's outer envelope, hydrostatic pressure causes helix wire to contact gold contact stripe. Resulting resistance indicates distance from sensor top to liquid surface. Hastelloy C276 jacket provides chemical compatibility.

Consilium US, Inc. Introduces The Hastelloy Jacketed LA-H Series of Level Sensors

Note: D&D Engineering, Booth 318, will be showcasing our products.

Consilium US, Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of level gauging solutions, introduces the Hastelloy jacketed LA-H Series of level sensors. These products combine the durability of Consilium's unique Metritape resistance-tape technology with the unsurpassed chemical compatibility of Hastelloy C276. The Hastelloy sensors can gauge nearly 800 chemical and petrochemical products and offer an increased operating temperature range. With no moving parts, low maintenance, easy top tank access, stable calibration, optional temperature detection and safe usability in flammable liquids, the Hastelloy level sensors are the ideal solutions in the most demanding chemical, hydrocarbon and industrial/municipal wastewater applications.

Commonly known as Metritape, resistance-tape sensors are used in thousands of water, wastewater, chemical and petroleum applications worldwide. Available in lengths from 3 to 100 feet, resistance-tape is essentially an "electric tape measure". A Metritape sensor converts distance along its length into resistance, measured in ohms. The sensor backbone is a stainless steel strip with a gold contact stripe on the face. The steel strip is insulated on its edges and back, then wound with a gold plated nichrome wire to form a helix. When liquid contacts the sensor's outer envelope jacket, hydrostatic pressure causes the helix wire to contact the gold contact stripe. The resulting resistance indicates the length of active (uncontacted) helix, and the distance from sensor top to liquid surface. The helix winding is gold finished nichrome, 4 turns/inch, 1000 ohms/meter (305 ohms/ft) resistance gradient and provides 1/4" resolution.

Metritape offers the following key features and advantages:

- No moving parts with nothing to wear out

- High reliability, virtually maintenance free

- Easy tank-top installation, no need to empty tank

- No adverse impact on sensor by agitation, foam, vapors, product build-up or suspended solids

- Stable and drift-free calibration

- Intrinsically safe for use in flammable liquids

- Temperature detectors can be added to sensor; no need for additional tank penetration

- Operating temperature range of -30 deg C to +107 deg C and ability to perform in pressures +/- 15 PSI
