New Family of Versatile Isolators Protect Process Equipment and Provide Power to Input Devices for the Value Conscious User

Acromag's 630T Series AC/DC-powered 4-20mA loop isolators and signal splitters feature an internal excitation supply to drive up to two 2-wire transmitters or other field devices.

Wixom, MI: Acromag's new 630T series of multi-channel isolators provide an economical and space-efficient solution to eliminate ground loops, filter signal noise, and block high voltage surges. These inch-wide single/dual-channel isolators receive 4-20mA inputs and provide fully isolated 4-20mA output signals. Signal splitter models provide two identical outputs from a single input. A built-in excitation supply delivers power for 2-wire transmitters or other input loop devices to eliminate the cost of external power supplies. The isolator power requirement is very flexible, operating off either 90-250V AC or 15-36V DC with a 4-wire connection. Prices start at just $215.

ARC Research Director Wil Chin commented, "With these new products, Acromag is offering users an easy solution to a long-standing problem of equipment isolation while maintaining signal accuracy and safety in manufacturing. This new family of isolation products expands Acromag's portfolio of cost-effective I/O products to provide one-stop-shop convenience to automation professionals."

The dual-channel models are ideal for tight budgets, compact spaces, and systems that may require spare channels for future upgrades. Built-in excitation supplies simplify wiring and save additional space. To reduce installation time, units arrive pre-calibrated, ready to snap onto a DIN-rail. And to meet safety standards, all units are designed for CE, UL/cUL Class I Division 2 Group ABCD approvals.

All three models feature 1500V continuous galvanic isolation between each input, each output, power, and the transmitter excitation supply. Individual channels operate independently and are isolated from each other to prevent interaction between the channels.

Maintenance requirements are also minimal. No load trimming is required if the load resistance ever varies. An advanced circuit design delivers excellent 0.05% accuracy and stable measurements with protection against RFI, EMI, ESD, and EFT. Units operate over a wide ambient temperature range (-25 to 85°C) with very low temperature drift. For long term maintenance and calibration requirements, each channel has two trim pots for precise zero/span adjustment. Plus, plug-in terminal blocks make it easy to remove installed units without disconnecting the field wiring.

Acromag, a multimillion dollar international corporation, has been manufacturing and developing measurement and control products for more than 45 years. They offer a complete line of industrial I/O products including process instruments, signal conditioning equipment, data acquisition boards, distributed I/O systems, and communication devices.
