IR Thermometer keeps track of incinerator temperatures.

Press Release Summary:

Non-contact CDA determines temperature of combustion gases in waste incinerators and electric utility boilers burning coal, gas, or oil. Insensitive to presence of gases other than CO2, product sees through cold CO2 to measure hot atmosphere beyond. It is also relatively insensitive to particulate matter in atmosphere. Capable of measuring true gas temperature from 750-3,270°F, unit mounts outside of incinerator and has air- or water-cooled protection jacket.

Infrared Thermometer Keeps a Check on Incinerator Temperatures

The new CDA non-contact infrared thermometer from Land Instruments International is a reliable means of determining the temperature of combustion gases in waste incinerators and electric utility boilers burning coal, gas or oil.

The Land CDA sees through cold CO2 to measure the hot atmosphere beyond, is insensitive to the presence of gases other than CO2 and relatively insensitive to particulate matter in the atmosphere - characteristics that collectively ensure that it measures the true gas temperature in the range of 750 to 3270°F/400 to 1800°C.

CDA thermometers can also measure gas or clean flame temperature in a variety of other plant situations, provided there is a sufficient CO2 concentration at high temperature combined with sufficient path length.

In an incinerator, the CDA can be pictured as an "invisible thermocouple" extending into the atmosphere above the bed by around 6ft/2m (penetration depth depends on combustion gas temperature and gas concentrations ). The instrument is mounted on the outside of the incinerator, usually to a flanged tube that penetrates the wall.

To ensure secure installation and adequate protection at the optimum position on the process, CDA thermometers are compatible with the proven System 4 mountings and accessories. The protection jacket can be air or water-cooled, and the sighting tube is normally air-purged.

A simple 2-wire loop connection outputs a 4 to 20mA signal linear in temperature to the monitoring or control system.
