Vishay Releases Four New 5-V Modules for IR Receiver Series
New 3-Pin Modules Optimized for Pulse-Distance Coding up to 35 Meters
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA November 29, 2006 Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the addition of four new modules featuring superior performance for pulse-distance coding to its TSOP1xxxx series of IR receivers.
Designed to address the class of coding protocols using pulse-to-pulse or simply presence of pulse timing methods, the new TSOP18238, TSOP19238, TSOP14838, and TSOP12238 devices are designed to be functionally equivalent to the current standard 38- kHz devices in the TSOP4xxx, TSOP2xxx, TSOP58xxx, and TSOP59xxx series, while maximizing the operational range for all standard IR remote control applications. Typical industry standard protocols using pulse-distance coding are NEC code, Toshiba code, and Mitsubishi code, as well as derivations of these codes.
Each module includes a photo detector and preamplifier circuit, mounted within a 3-pin epoxy-encapsulated module with an integrated lens. Two standard package types are available as well as three industry-standard pin configurations.
The new devices are specified for operation at 5 V with a transmission range of 35 meters. The modules feature a carrier frequency of 38 kHz, and include an internal Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuit for enhanced immunity against optical noise, as well as an internal metal shield for protection against EMI. The output of the new IR receivers is TTL- and CMOS-compatible. All four devices feature a maximum irradiance of 30 W/m2 with the specific pin-out options, forward current requirements and minimum irradiance characteristics summarized in the table below.
