IR Receiver Modules are immune to ambient light disturbances.

Press Release Summary:

Capable of operating over distances up to 114.8 ft on supply voltages as low as 2.7 V, TSOP3xxxx multi-function IR receiver modules combine PIN diode and preamplifier in one epoxy package measuring 6.95 x 6 x 5.6 mm. Integrated Automatic Gain Control circuitry suppresses light-source disturbances, internal metal shielding protects against electrical field disturbances, and internal band filter allows PCM frequency operation. Maximum data rate is 4,000 bit/s.

Vishay's Next-Generation IR Receiver Modules Provide 3-V Operation Over Distances of 35 m With High Immunity to Ambient Light Disturbances

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - June 24, 2003 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) is adding to its family of multi-function IR receiver modules for the remote control market with 14 new devices that provide high immunity to ambient light disturbances while operating over a distance of 35 m (114.8 ft.) on supply voltages as low as 2.7 V.

The new TSOP3xxxx receiver modules from Vishay Semiconductors combine a PIN diode and preamplifier in a single package measuring just 6.95 mm by 6 mm with a height profile of 5.6 mm, allowing designers to develop highly integrated, space-saving IR remote control systems for end products including toys, televisions, DVD players, VCRs, and other battery-powered, remote-controlled products.

The module's epoxy package doubles as an IR filter, while integrated Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuitry suppresses all kinds of light-source disturbances. Internal metal shielding protects against electrical field disturbances, and an internal band filter allows PCM frequency operation. The new receiver modules are specified for a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V and serve as the standard receiver in remote controls with a 3-V voltage supply.

Devices in the TSOP3xxxx series can operate with all common data formats, featuring a maximum data rate of 4000 bit/s. A demodulated output signal that can be directly decoded by a microprocessor facilitates use of the module in multimedia applications. TSOP3xxxx devices are TTL- and CMOS-compatible.

Samples and production quantities of the new TSOP3xxxx receiver modules are available now, with lead times of 6 to 8 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery in 100,000-piece quantities starts at $40.00 per 100 pieces.
