IPextreme Aligns with Infineon to Open and Promote Valuable MLI and MSC Interface Standards Specifications

Protocols reduce vehicle electronics costs while enabling advanced control and safety applications
FSA Suppliers Expo & Conference, SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 12, 2007 - IPextreme® Inc., a semiconductor technology licensing specialist, is promoting valuable Infineon MLI and MSC high-speed serial interface standards by making the specifications openly available. The Multiprocessor Link Interface (MLI) is a fast serial interface for inter-processor communications; enabling heterogeneous parallel processing through just a few pins. Similarly the MicroSecond Channel (MSC) controls power modules such as electric motors, fuel injectors and ignition coils, while minimizing pin count and system cost.
Both specifications can be downloaded from the IPextreme website (www.ip-extreme.com) at no cost. Anyone agreeing to the click-through license terms is free to implement and use the specifications. Infineon's implementations of MLI and MSC are also available from IPextreme as silicon-proven IP cores.
Infineon Technologies is a leading supplier of automotive semiconductors and developed the MLI and MSC protocols to reduce the electronics cost in vehicles while enabling advanced control and safety applications. Both are well proven in high volume vehicle applications in standard parts such as the TC1766, a 32-bit flash microcontroller of the AUDO-NG family which is based on the 32-bit TriCore® architecture.
