Using SIP, these IP phones deliver all the functions of business telephones and provide a range of features, functions, and prices to suit a variety of applications

SUNNYVALE, CA, 21 March 2005 - Zultys Technologies today announced immediate availability of its new family of ZIP phones. This range of phones is built entirely on open standards and runs on a highly stable real time Linux operating system. The phones are compatible with any IP telephony system using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), providing customers with greater flexibility in their telephony system choices. Support for features such as power over Ethernet (PoE), line-rate Ethernet switching, voice encryption, and conferencing also make the phones ideal for a number of applications and environments.

"We have been using the ZIP 4x4 as our primary business telephone and are very excited about the introduction of the new ZIP 2x2 series of phones," said Alan Churchill of Canby Builders Supply. "As our business grows we need quality phones with the right features to support our growth and related business needs. The ZIP 2x2 is an ideal yet affordable solution for us. And, like the ZIP 4x4, the ZIP 2x2 family is easy to deploy and manage, a feature which is very important for us as we add new offices and hire more people."

The following features are common to all phones:
o Contemporary design with the look and feel of a business phone
o Two call appearances for support of two simultaneous calls
o High contrast LCD that is backlit
o Buttons for all commonly used functions
o Multiple LEDs (including message waiting indicator) instantly indicate phone status
o Conference with three parties using inbound or outbound calls, in which parties can be easily added or removed
o High quality audio assured by superior design and incorporation of Zultys' patented jitter buffer
o Speech quality protected by QoS at the Ethernet and IP layers
o Ability to recall and dial the last 32 incoming and 32 outgoing calls
o Simple administration and management using DHCP and TFTP configuration
o HTML configuration using a browser

Some phones have the following additional features:
o Two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet circuits capable of switching traffic at wire speed

"Zultys is committed to addressing the needs of our customers and business partners. That means providing quality IP phones," said Iain Milnes, President of Zultys. "Getting the phones out to a worldwide market is a priority for Zultys and we will continue to invest heavily in VoIP technology and product development."

Each phone has a unique set of features that makes it suitable in the following applications:

ZIP 2x2
This is the desktop phone with all of the features. "Two by two" in the name refers to the phone's two call appearances and two Ethernet ports. The two call appearances provide two simultaneous incoming or outgoing calls. The two Ethernet ports allow a computer on the desk to obtain line-speed connectivity to the LAN through the phone, eliminating extra wiring.

ZIP 2x1
The ZIP 2x1 is a desktop phone that has encryption but without the second Ethernet port or PoE. This may be suitable for the home office or as a second phone in an executive's large office.

ZIP 2x2L
The ZIP 2x2L is the desktop phone that contains a two-port Ethernet switch to provide a LAN connection for a PC on the desktop. This allows an installation with one wire to the desktop where phone service is not critical when ac power fails.

ZIP 2P
This is the basic phone with support for PoE added. The ZIP 2P works well where there may be no ac outlet or where it is important to have voice service when the ac fails (such as security points or entrance lobbies).

ZIP 2+
This is the least expensive phone with an LCD. The ZIP 2+ has the basic features that make it well suited for manufacturing areas or retail applications where there may not be a PC.

All of the phones are sold worldwide and have the appropriate regulatory approvals in each market. Stickers are provided to overlay the English text on the phone. These stickers identify the functions of the buttons and keys and are available in 14 languages. The menu on the phone is available in nine different languages.

"This new range of phones clearly sets us apart from our competitors," said Patrick Ferriter, VP of Product Marketing at Zultys. "We can supply phones separate from our range of IP PBXs or with our IP PBXs. We have received high praises from our customers for the look, feel, and sound quality of these new phones."

Pricing and Availability
Available in black or white, the ZIP 2 family is priced in single quantities at between $150 and $230 depending on model. This includes the ac adapter, Ethernet cable, language stickers, and user's guide in 14 languages. The phone has free software updates for life.

The phone is available from distribution worldwide from today.
