ip.access and Thomson Collaborate to Deliver Integrated 3G Femtocell Gateway Platform


Relationship between industry leaders delivers new product concepts

12 February 2007 - ip.access, a leading developer of in-building wireless picocell solutions, together with Thomson, a worldwide leader in DSL Customer Premises Equipment, have today announced the companies are collaborating to bring 3G femtocells to the mass market, and offer an integrated DSL residential gateway platform with 3G femtocell to mobile operators for millions of consumers worldwide.

The 3G femtocell gateway combines ip.access 3G Converge(TM) femtocell technology with Thomson's DSL gateway technology, to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for the mobile operator. A single device will give customers seamless 3G connectivity to their mobiles at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, in addition to their WiFi and DSL connection.

The combined solution will ensure a superior user experience, making high-quality voice and compelling 3G multimedia services such as mobile TV, music downloads and video available in the home on any 3G handset, delivered with unrivalled quality of service, network security and manageability. Consumers will also benefit from the easy installation and seamless operation of a single integrated device.
