Inverting DC/DC Converter has onboard Schottky diode.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in low-profile SOT-23 package, LT3462/A operates in dual inductor inverting topology that filters input and output side currents. Product performs fixed frequency switching at 1.2 and 2.7 MHz for LT3462 and LT3462A versions, respectively. Able to deliver up to 100 mA @ -5 V from 5 V input, both devices operate from input voltage of 2.5-16 V and deliver output voltages to -38 V. Rated 40 V, 300 mA, switch allows VIN to VOUT differentials of up to 38 V.

300mA, 40V Inverting DC/DC Converter with Integrated Schottky in a ThinSOT Package

MILPITAS, CA - May 13, 2004 - Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT3462/A, a 40V, 300mA inverting DC/DC converter with onboard Schottky diode packaged in a ThinSOT(TM). The LT3462 switches at a constant 1.2MHz, while the "A" version switches at 2.7MHz. Both devices operate from an input voltage of 2.5V to 16V and can deliver output voltages up to -38V. An input voltage range of 2.5V to 16V makes the LTC3462/A ideal for single cell Li-Ion, or multi-cell NiMH or alkaline applications, as well as other fixed rail systems. It is ideal for negative biasing for CCD and LCD applications as well as general-purpose negative voltage supplies. It can deliver up to 100mA at -5V from a 5V input. The combination of a low VCESAT switch and an integrated Schottky diode provides a tiny solution footprint and low parts cost.

The LT3462/A operates in a dual inductor inverting topology that filters both the input side and output side currents. Very low output voltage ripple - better then 1mVP-P - can be achieved with ceramic capacitors. Fixed frequency switching ensures a clean output, free from low frequency noise typically found in charge pump alternatives. The 40V switch allows VIN to VOUT differentials of up to 38V for dual inductor topologies. For inverting applications that require a very compact footprint, low noise, and high efficiency, the LT3462/A is the ideal solution.

Pricing for the LT3462/A starts at $2.05 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
