Intrinsic Schools, a Chicago-based Charter School, Implements Procurify and Gains Increased Visibility Into Spending

CHICAGO — Intrinsic Schools, a progressive charter school organization has chosen to implement Procurify, a cloud-based, e-purchasing solution to manage spending. Procurify has enabled this fast-growing organization to achieve complete visibility and control of its spending with real-time data using simple to generate reports and analytics.

Intrinsic Schools' student population has more than doubled for the 2014-15 school year, which means that the organization needed to update their manual processes.

The growth of Intrinsic Schools mirrors the overall growth of charter schools in the United States. According to the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, since 2008, the number of student names on charter school waiting lists has grown by 186%, and the number of full-time teachers in public charter schools grew by 60% between 2007-08 and 2011-12.

Brian Kates, director of finance and operations for Intrinsic Schools, said: "The biggest thing for us is increasing efficiency, having really good transparency in the purchasing process and making sure everything is streamlined."

He added that since implementation of Procurify: "I've got much better adherence to our purchasing process than I did before. People have very quickly bought in – the process is easier for them now. It is easier to make a request and receive supplies, and they notice if they get things faster."

Kenneth Loi, chief operating officer and co-founder of Procurify said: "When companies like Intrinsic Schools grow quickly, their current processes tend to become obsolete, ineffective and inefficient. Procurify solves this with its simple workflow that is built for operational efficiency as well as visibility into spending."

Like traditional public schools, charter schools receive public money, but also work to raise money through fundraisers, community partnerships and booster clubs.

Charter schools also raise money through donations by parents, businesses, or philanthropic organizations. It is recommended by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools that each school have an independent audit conducted annually.

Aman Mann, chief executive officer and co-founder of Procurify said: "We are focused on building solutions that make people's lives easier by offering easy implementation, simple workflow and straightforward access to spend data. We also believe in transparent pricing and do not charge fees for upgrades or implementation."

Mann added: "Often, the client has no official process in place before Procurify, or sometimes they do have a process, but it is not giving them the visibility and efficiency needed - that's where we come in."

Procurify cites its focus on customer success as a cornerstone of the company's growth.

Kates said: "The piece I've been most impressed with is the customer service. The responsiveness from the company has been amazing."

In the past year Procurify's user base has grown to include users in more than 53 countries worldwide, and the team has more than doubled in size to support this growth. This user base includes high profile clients such as Hootsuite, a leading social media management platform, and Katz Media, which represents about 4,000 radio stations and 500 TV and digital multicast stations throughout the U.S.
