Intertec Extends Instrumentation Enclosures and Shelters Portfolio with Custom Service for Very Low Volumes

o flexible processes acquired with Fibreform support cost-effective manufacturing for volumes as small as 10

Sarnia, Ontario, July 5, 2007 - Intertec has extended its ability to produce custom enclosures and shelters for field-based process instrumentation and equipment with a range of economic options for very low volume requirements. The company can now produce application-specific enclosures of almost any shape, size and colour, in volumes as low as 10 for clients in the North American region.

The service exploits the flexible resin transfer moulding and vacuum-bagging production processes acquired as part of Intertec's recent purchase of Fibreform. This new design and manufacturing capability is located in Sarnia, and complements Intertec's established portfolio of moulded glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) enclosures/cabinets, shelters and accessories currently produced at its Houston, Texas facility, and other locations worldwide.

"We provide off-the-shelf solutions for the broad spectrum of field instrument and manifold arrangements, and process analyzer shelters, but still regularly get requests for enclosures to accommodate unusual equipment configurations or protect against extreme weather," says Intertec's Phil Luppke. "These might be for oil and gas production or pipeline projects in harsh environments for example, or to house some new generation of field equipment. Our new flexible production process means these customers can specify the exact enclosure and protection they need - and cost-justify that purchase even for quantities as low as 10 or less."

Intertec's newest manufacturing facility can produce rugged and corrosion-resistant enclosures or field shelters in thicknesses of up to approximately 4 inches/10 cm. An extremely broad range of accessories is available to further configure these housings for specific applications. Options include HVAC, heaters, insulation, windows, standard and custom mounting components, manifolds and valves, and up to 120 minutes of fire protection. Intertec's turnkey assembly service, Safe Link, allows it to provide the full instrument system - complete with process transmitter(s) if required - ready for hook-up on site.

The new design and manufacturing service is located in the former premises of Fibreform, which Intertec acquired from Thermon Canada at the end of last year. Following this acquisition, Intertec has transferred its Milton, Ontario facility to Fibreform's much-larger (40,000 square foot/3,700 square meters), ISO 9001-registered location in Sarnia, Ontario. The acquisition has also extended Intertec's heating product portfolio with options including explosion-proof heaters (CSA, ATEX and IEC approved), and a unique 'post heater' that integrates heating capability into the common pipe-stand type of plant instrument mounting.

Intertec has the broadest portfolio of enclosure, cabinet and shelter solutions for protecting field instrumentation in the world. The range includes GRP enclosures and protective shades in a range of shapes and sizes, GRP cabinets and shelters for use in almost any climate or weather conditions, accessories including heating systems, and custom design and turnkey system assembly services. Intertec supplies most of the world's major oil, gas, petrochemical and chemical organizations, from its network of manufacturing and sales offices worldwide, and via a large network of agents and distributors. To date, Intertec has supplied well over half a million protection systems worldwide. www.intertec.info
