Harness the Mobile Data Tsunami with Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway

New 4G technology enables high data performance in 3G networks

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - With the onslaught of mobile Internet traffic hitting their networks, operators need to provide high capacity while keeping costs inline. The new Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway offers instant savings by diverting as much as 70% of Internet-bound traffic from the network core. It offloads traffic at the network edge before the traffic consumes costly backhaul and core resources.

"Users want fast mobile data, so operators must prepare their networks for the mobile Internet tsunami," said Rehan Jalil, senior vice president, mobile Internet at Tellabs. "Tellabs' Smart Internet Breakout Gateway enables operators to handle traffic easily while reducing their costs dramatically."

Built for the mobile Internet

Designed for 4G networks, the Tellabs® SmartCore(TM) 9100 series (formerly the WiChorus SmartCore(TM) platform) enables operators to meet the burgeoning demands of the mobile Internet. The Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway provides a huge cost and performance advantage over traditional products.

Operators can break the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) bottleneck. One Tellabs device does the work of up to 16 GGSNs, saving costs and improving traffic flow. The Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway turbo charges 3G networks while opening a smooth migration path to 4G. Operators can transform the platform into their 4G EPC (Evolved Packet Core) solution when they are ready to make the transition to LTE.

Built for easy deployment

Operators can deploy the Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway without changing their existing packet core. They can simply insert it into current 3G networks, without any configuration changes to RNCs, SGSNs or GGSNs, providing instant relief to congested networks.

To channel the mobile Internet tsunami, operators seek better control over their networks. Built-in analytics on the Tellabs Gateway provide insight into network use. With this insight, service providers can properly manage their networks, identify bottle necks and prioritize critical traffic.

Major mobile operators are testing the Tellabs Smart Internet Breakout Gateway now.

Tellabs® Mobile Solutions add intelligence to mobile networks, empowering them to deliver location- and context-aware smart applications and services for the mobile Internet. The acquisition of WiChorus in 2009 enables Tellabs to provide a breakthrough mobile packet core technology.
