New Interior Adhesives Simplify Production, Bolster Design Flexibility
DETROIT, – Henkel Adhesive Technologies, the leading solution provider worldwide for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings, today announced the introduction of two interior adhesive technologies for passenger vehicles, during the Ward's Auto Interiors Conference, at Cobo Center.
AQUENCE® PL 5101™ is a one-component, waterborne laminating adhesive, that simplifies production by eliminating the need to mix components, while curing on- command through heat activation. TECHNOMELT® AS 8383™, a non-reactive APAO hot melt, offers multi-functional application capabilities, with effectiveness on various substrates, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and polypropylene.
"The adhesive technologies that support development of today's world-class interiors must overcome significant challenges faced by the engineering community," said Barb Wehrle, business development manager, Transport and Metal, at Henkel Adhesive Technologies in North America. "Efficient open times, on-command bonding, thinner bead volume and cross-functional application capabilities, are key to success."
AQUENCE® PL 5101™ can be sprayed, roll coated or brushed for use as a laminate in association with instrument panels, side door panels and consoles. TECHNOMELT® AS 8383™ maintains its effectiveness at temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius with a hanging weight of up to 500 grams and is used for multiple vehicle applications, including headliner attachments, wiring, carpet and acoustic pads and foams.
