New Pilz Human/Machine Interface offers next generation in increased flexibility and capability

Canton, MI - Pilz Automation Safety L.P. has developed the next generation in Human/Machine Interface terminals, providing users with increased systems architecture flexibility, as well as increased product capabilities. These new 'Pilz Machine Interfaces', or PMI's, are built on the Windows CE operating system, which allows for the implementation of universal, networked graphics solutions for virtually any machinery or facility-wide setup.

The first in the PMI family is the Pilz PMI-215. This graphics operator system combines the functionality of an industrial PC with the flexibility of a compact operator terminal. It has a 5.7" full-color STN display with resistive touch screen features. These features ensure that the PMI-215 is easy to operate in rugged plant conditions, even when gloves are worn, and can stand up to the most extreme environments.

To make the PMI-215 as adaptable as possible, Pilz has engineered the system with a variety of component interfaces, such as USB, PCMCIA and PC/104 ports and slots. The PMI-215 can also be configured using the Pilz PMI-PRO software system. With PMI-PRO, users can customize the PMI-215 specifically for their unique operating environment. The object-oriented structure and user-interface via Windows 95/98/NT enables quick mastery and intuitive interaction with the PMI-PRO software. Also, the variety of text and graphics available through PMI-PRO give users the freedom to create individual interfaces for the PMI-215.
