Leuze Lumiflex , Inc. introduces its new AS-I Interface system for applications up to and including safety category 4. AS-I safety is characterized by allowing mixed operation of standard and safety bus users on a common bus cable. Incorporating an ASM1 safety monitor enables safe data transmission within the system as well as the safe switch off function in case of sensor activation or a fault. The safe coupling module ASKM can be used to make connections to safety interlocking devices, E-stops or type 4 safety light grids without an integrated AS-I Interface. Power and data are supplied by a single bus cable and a special Windows configuration allows for quick and easy system start-up. Leuze Lumiflex is also now fully equipped to produce AS-I equipped safety light curtains at their North American manufacturing facility located in Rockaway, NJ.
