EB (Elektrobit) Releases EB Guide 5.3

One of the industry's most comprehensive and powerful solutions for the development and delivery of applications, media and advanced graphics for the automotive devices.

DETROIT, --EB (Elektrobit) announces today new rich multi-touch features and performance improvements and is presenting the latest version of its software for developing vehicle user interfaces at the Telematics Detroit 2012 Conference - EB GUIDE 5.3. The company is also outlining plans for supporting various operating system and silicon chips for developing EB GUIDE applications.

The increasing number of features provided through electronic components is making driving more complex. At the same time, the specifications, quality expectations and safety regulations are much more stringent than for other electronic devices.

"The user interfaces and design of infotainment, navigation and instrument clusters have developed to become key differentiating features for car manufacturers," said Alexander Kocher, president of the Automotive Business Segment at EB. "With flexible software tools such as EB GUIDE, carmakers can develop rich user experiences at lower costs."

Three factors are a priority for car manufacturers when developing new user interfaces for vehicles: the fast integration of new technologies, brand differentiation through unique HMI and reduced development costs. With EB GUIDE 5.3, EB is presenting a flexible, comprehensive and industry leading software tool which reaches all of these goals. Thanks to the multi-touch features along with a more fluid presentation of vector graphics, drivers will benefit from same rich experiences in their car, as they are on mobile phones or tablets.

The same platform in various designs can be used for a range of different vehicle models so that the car manufacturers and suppliers can save on development costs, total cost of device and control the branded experiences.

EB GUIDE is suitable for the development, simulation and testing of user interfaces for car manufacturers and suppliers. The range of developments extends from digital dashboards to navigation and infotainment systems and from the low-end to the high-end head units and instrument clusters. The new release supports 3D effects and animations, multi-touch, vector graphics and chip-specific graphic solutions. This enables car manufacturers and suppliers to use lower cost graphic chips - by still having high quality graphics. Additional information about EB GUIDE will be available at the company's booth 71-72 at the Telematics Detroit 2012 Conference on June 6 -7 in Novi, Mich.

EB GUIDE is one of the leading integrated software platforms in the market and is used by global major vehicle manufacturers and suppliers in all development phases, across global markets and carlines.

"EB GUIDE is the result of more than two decades of experience in developing automotive software," continued Kocher. "Thanks to our on-going development and integration of new features, EB GUIDE 5.3 represents a radical improvement in the way developers and carmakers build applications that help them differentiate in the market place and provide drivers with unique experiences."
