An industry leader in solutions for the automotive market, Laird delivers innovative products to OEMs and Tier 1 companies. This year’s event will be held June 5-6, at The Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. Laird will exhibit at booth #95.
The telematics that will allow cars of the future to “see” and “talk” with each other also will enable medical devices to wirelessly provide valuable data unlike never before, according to Jim Ciccarelli, Segment Director for Telematics at Laird. “Telematics and wireless technology has significantly changed the automotive industry,” said Ciccarelli who will be among various experts presenting at Telematics Detroit 2013. “We are looking at how we can take those same technologies into other markets.”

His presentation, titled “Taking Telematics Beyond Automotive,” will discuss how to provide full value-add to vehicles by tapping into other wireless, M2M ecosystems. Topics discussed will include integrating cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® technologies, interfacing to medical devices for first responders and enabling telematics suppliers to move into new wireless verticals through strategic partnerships.
During the exhibition, Laird will highlight their broad mix of products and solutions for the automotive industry. Antennas, Telematics Devices, EMI, Ferrites, Active Thermal Management, Thermal Interface Materials and Embedded Wireless solutions will be showcased at the booth through an interactive vehicle display. Advanced concepts displayed in the vehicle will include low-energy Bluetooth Smart™ modules, LTE/MiMo reception and wireless sensors using energy harvesting.
“Laird has a lot to offer the automotive market,” said Ciccarelli. “When you look at how the vehicle has changed - even in the last 10 years - you can see the possibilities of the future,” he said. “Beyond just telematics offerings, Laird’s products address the full range of automotive electronics, and we partner with some of the leading OEMs and Tier 1 companies in the industry to develop solutions for the future.”
