Schneider Electric Introduces Intelligent Motion Controller Modicon® LMC058
Intelligent Controller Integrates Motion and Logic into One Compact, Expandable Product
PALATINE, Ill. - Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today introduced the Modicon® LMC058, an intelligent controller integrating motion and logic in one product. The newest compact and expandable programmable automation controller from Schneider Electric, the Modicon LMC058 is designed especially for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in packaging, conveying/storage, textile and woodworking.
The Modicon LMC058 offers motion control for synchronized axis, speed control, high-speed counting, and communication networks. The controller also offers OEMs the ability to speed up machine design, increase flexibility for distributed architectures, and save time in programming and commissioning. In fact, the Modicon LMC058 can speed assembly, wiring and commissioning by up to 30 percent.
The Modicon LMC058 utilizes Schneider Electric's SoMachine(TM) automation software to speed machine design through six programming languages, function blocks, came profile editor and commissioning tools such as trace and oscilloscope. Other features of this controller include:
o Ethernet embedded for open communications
o Built-in CANmotion and CANopens for improved machine performance, flexibility and speed
o Serial line embedded with two standards protocols
o Standard USB ports for programming, firmware and transfer of data files
o Local flexibility through features like compact I/O modules, slice I/O modules, removable terminal blocks and spring terminals
o A TM5 I/O BUS that offers remote flexibility
The controller also features both standard and advanced motion control functions like relative and absolute positioning, velocity control, homing, virtual axis, CAM profiles, electronic gear, interpolation and shift compression.
