GE Introduces Space-Saving, Easy-to-Install Integrated Switchboard

PLAINVILLE, CT-GE Consumer & Industrial's Integrated Switchboard (ISB) for application in commercial office, hospital, retail, hotel and school settings, offers electrical contractors, consultants and facility owners up to a 50-percent space reduction and as much as a 75-percent installation labor savings compared with traditional, non-integrated product solutions.

GE's ISB includes an expansive product scope: power panels up to 1200A; lighting panels (AQ, AE, AL) 400A and less; A-Series Lighting Control Panels; transformers (including TP1) 150KVA and less; lighting contactors 400A and less; and back mounting plates.

"Our ISB stands out thanks to its small footprint and inventive design, a GE hallmark that speeds wiring time and cuts back on unnecessary materials," says Ray Tingle, product manager, GE Consumer & Industrial. "This is a direct answer to customer demand for space savings, cost reductions, greater flexibility and GE reliability."

A new "Speedi Integrated Switchboard Configurator" tool shortens production lead times to 6 weeks. It allows authorized distributors and sales people to configure integrated switchboards, create drawings and order directly from the field or customer location. In addition to shortening lead times, the Speedi Integrated Switchboard Configurator also provides the ability to order scope variations without appealing to the facility, and allows engineering and pricing similar to standard switchboards, power panels and lighting panels. Users of the tool can "drag-and-drop" various components into an "available section" or "auto-configure" (whereby components are automatically positioned for the most space-efficient solution), and then transmit files directly to plants for manufacturing.

The GE ISB solution allows companies to move other equipment from the factory floor to an environmentally protected electrical room, an action that can increase the life span of equipment. In addition to its small footprint, reduced installation costs and Speedi configuration, GE's ISB solution offers:
one tight shipping package to minimize shipping damage, breakage and loss from multiple shipments of loose components; and
a modular design for consistency across a multi-platform system and greater application versatility.

The solution meets the following specification standards: NEMA PB1, UL Standard 891, UL 67, UL 50, UL 489, NEMA ST20, UL 508.
