Integrated Servo Motors include absolute encoders.

Press Release Summary:

Integrated servo motor Models MAC400 and MAC800 are available with built-in absolute multi-turn encoders, offering multi-turn resolution of ±2,048 whole turns, and single-turn resolution of either 8,000 or 8,192, which is software-selectable. Motors will remember their positions while powered off, eliminating zero search operation on start up. Full absolute encoder position is available at all times for use by PLC over serial or fieldbus interfaces.

Absolute Multi-Turn Encoders with the Integrated Servo Motors MAC400 and MAC800 from JVL

JVL Industri Elektronik A/S, a world leader in integrated servo an stepper motors, now offers yet another feature: The integrated servo MAC400 and MAC800, can now be delivered with built-in absolute multi-turn encoders, with a multi-turn resolution of +/-2048 whole turns, and a single-turn resolution of either 8000 or 8192 (software-selectable) with option for higher resolutions.

Motors equipped with absolute encoders will remember their positions while powered off, thus typically eliminating a zero search operation on start up. The position is stored mechanically using toothed wheels, so there will not be any of the problems with batteries that run down, or memories that loose information, that many other systems have.

The full absolute encoder position is available at all times for use by a PLC over any of the serial or fieldbus interfaces and can be used freely in a program.
