Cygnal Offers Complete Solution for USB to UART Bridge in a Single Chip
AUSTIN, TX (September 22, 2003) - Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc. a manufacturer of mixed-signal integrated circuits, today announced availability of the CP2101 USB-to-UART Bridge Chip. The CP2101 provides USB 2.0 Full Speed to 921.6kBaud UART data transfer in a 5x5mm Micro-Lead Frame Package, with no external components required.
"The CP2101 requires no external crystal, voltage regulator, or EEPROM, providing the smallest available PCB footprint for a USB to UART bridge," said Danny Allred, Cygnal's Director of Product Marketing. "The CP2101 is an ideal solution for quickly updating legacy UART, RS-232, and RS485 systems with USB connectivity."
The CP2101EK Evaluation Kit, priced at $49, is a complete USB to RS-232 solution that includes a PCB (with schematics and BOM), cables, and royalty free Virtual COM Port device drivers. The CP2101 chips are $2.68 in quantities of 10,000. Both the evaluation kit and chips are available for purchase from Cygnal at cygnal.com.
