Integra5 Expands Converged Services Leadership with PC Caller ID Rollouts

Comporium and other operators leverage the i5 Converged Services Platform to quickly and easily extend the proven benefits of Caller ID to PCs

BURLINGTON, Mass., Jan. 16 -- Integra5, the pioneer in blending quad play bundles into converged services for simultaneous delivery across TVs and PCs, today announced the commercial deployment of its PC Caller ID application, powered by the i5 Converged Services Platform (CSP). Comporium Communications, a quintuple play service provider based in South Carolina, is one of multiple new and existing Integra5 customers that are launching PC Caller ID to increase competitive differentiation and enhance the value of bundled services.

PC Caller ID delivers notifications of an incoming caller's name and number to a subscriber's PC screen before the phone rings. The proven revenue- and loyalty-building benefits of early converged services -- such as TV Caller ID -- have led to service provider demand for additional applications that span all devices in the home including TVs, PCs, and landline and mobile phones. In a recent survey of Comporium TV Caller ID subscribers, more than 40% said they want to receive converged services across both TVs and PCs, and over 80% want more converged communications beyond caller ID.

"Based on the phenomenal success of 'Caller ID on TV,' we're now leveraging the i5 CSP to roll out additional converged services from Integra5, the first of which is 'Caller ID on PC,'" said Glenn McFadden, executive vice president of operations at Comporium. "It is now available free to customers who subscribe to our high-speed Internet service and wireline phone service with regular caller ID."

The i5 CSP lets operators launch new applications -- such as PC Caller ID, SMS Text Messaging and Voicemail to the TV, and i-Click(TM) -- in a matter of weeks, versus months or years, providing a foundation for the continuous rollout of converged communications and content services.

The i5 CSP allows subscribers to control and personalize incoming calls for PC Caller ID, with the ability to: ignore a call or divert it to voicemail with the click of a button; manage which PCs in the home receive the service; add pictures, nicknames, fonts and colors to PC Caller ID notifications; set notification "tones"; and view a PC Call Log, which lists names, numbers, dates and times associated with incoming calls. Operators can deliver the PC Caller ID notifications via subscribers' Instant Message clients or the i5PC client, adding to the ease and speed of deployment.

To offer PC Caller ID and other i5 converged services, providers deploy the i5 CSP in the network where it recognizes incoming landline and wireless calls, creates the display information and sends it to the appropriate subscriber's TVs and/or PCs. The i5 CSP's distributed architecture scales to millions of subscribers and requires no truck rolls or in-home equipment. It works in IPTV, cable and hybrid network environments, enabling any service provider to rapidly deploy real-time converged services across multiple TVs, PCs and phones per household.

"TV Caller ID has whet consumer appetite for converged services, and as a result, we're beginning to see operators take a more holistic view of all devices in the home, launching both TV- and PC-based services to deliver a seamless subscriber experience," said Meredith Flynn-Ripley, CEO of Integra5. "With the network-based i5 CSP, service providers can effortlessly launch these advanced services to harness this significant cross-device market opportunity and stay one step ahead of the competition."

The i5 CSP and pre-packaged Integra5 converged services have been commercially deployed with numerous service providers since 2004, including top 20 MSOs Knology and WideOpenWest (WOW!), as well as BVU OptiNet, Comporium, EATEL, Everest, Foothills Telephone Cooperative and Hargray, among others.
