Fluke Adds Two New Insulation Testers for Under $400

Powerful features in a compact package for users who prefer single-purpose insulation test tools

EVERETT, Wash. - Fluke Corporation, the world's leading supplier of handheld test and measurement equipment, has added the compact Fluke 1507 and 1503 Insulation Testers to its line of insulation test instruments. The new single-purpose digital insulation testers are capable of delivering multiple test voltages and are designed to provide rugged reliability and ease of operation for a wide range of troubleshooting, commissioning and preventive maintenance applications.

The Fluke 1507 features automatic "one-button" calculation of Polarization Index and Dielectric Absorption Ratio, and also has a Compare (pass/fail) function designed to ease repetitive testing. Both the Fluke 1507 and 1503 include a new remote test probe that enables one-handed insulation testing via a button on the probe handle for convenient use in hard-to-reach places. The Fluke 1507 provides insulation resistance testing up to 10 gigohms, with five output voltages ranging from 50 V to 1000 V, while the 1503 tests up to 2000 Megohms of resistance with either 500 or 1000 V.

The Fluke Insulation Testers are designed for added user protection with a 600 V Cat IV overvoltage rating and are engineered to withstand voltage spikes of 8 kilovolts. In addition, insulation testing is disabled if the testers are connected to a live circuit with more than 30 volts. After testing, the testers automatically discharge all capacitive voltage from the equipment under test to help prevent accidental shocks.

"Our new insulation testers and insulation multimeters are a practical solution that cost-effectively meets the growing need for insulation testing in the field," said Michael Stuart, marketing manager of electrical products for Fluke Corporation. "We now have a full family of reliable, handheld tools that gives electricians and technicians a choice to fit their budget and the features they need for productive troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks on motors, cables, switchgear and more."

The Fluke line of insulation test instruments also includes the Fluke 1587 and 1577 Insulation Multimeters, the Fluke 1520 MegOhmMeter and the Fluke 1550B 5 KV MegOhmMeter.

Both new models from Fluke come complete with test leads and probes, alligator clips and the remote test probe. Four AA alkaline batteries, good for as many as 1000 insulation tests, provide the power. The testers accept the Fluke TPAK(TM) magnetic hanging system for hands-free operation. Both models carry a one-year warranty. US list price for the Fluke 1507 Insulation Multimeter is $399, and the Model 1503 has a US list price of $299.
