Insulation Tester suits rotating machinery applications.

Press Release Summary:

Microprocessor-controlled, Model MEG-10-01 is manufactured to requirements of IEEE43:2000 Standard, which suggests use of 10 kV as test voltage for rotating machinery with rated voltage above 12 kV requirements. Test voltage range is 500-5000 V, with measurement range up to 50 Gohm at 500 V, 500 Gohm at 5 kV or 10 kV on digital display, and to 1 Tohm at all voltages on analog scale. IP54-rated unit provides real-time data output and on-board storage for download.

Original Press Release:

New Megger 10 kV Insulation Tester Ideal for Rotating Machinery

Manufactured to the requirements of the IEEE43:2000 Standard, 'Recommended Practice for Testing Insulation Resistance of Rotating Machinery', the new MEG-10-01 is a compact microprocessor controlled high voltage d.c. 10 kV Insulation Tester. It has been designed as the ideal tool for
maintenance personnel in motor manufacturers and other industrial facilities who use rotating machinery.

The IEEE43:2000 Standard specifically suggests the use of 10 kV as a test voltage for rotating machinery with a rated voltage above 12 kV requirements. The addition of a 10 kV test voltage
increases the chance of detecting faults such as cracks or punctures in the insulation without moving into a potentially dangerous over-voltage situation. The MEG-10-01 Insulation Tester has test voltages of 500 V, 1000 V, 2500 V, and 5000 V, and its measurement range is up to 50 Gohm at 500 V, up to 500
Gohm at 5 kV or 10 kV on the digital display, and to 1 Tohm at all voltages on the analog scale. The unit measures the insulation resistance of armature and field windings in rotating machines rated 1 hp (750 W) or greater.

Housed in a rugged, molded case and IP54 rated, the MEG-10-01 operates from the mains supply or rechargeable battery capable of providing up to 4 hours continuous testing. It offers real time data output and on-board storage for subsequent download. An integral timer is started automatically at the start of a test. This may also be used to automatically stop an insulation resistance test and a polarization index test. At the end of any test, capacitive loads are automatically discharged and the
decaying voltage is displayed until it reaches a safe level. Measurements are clearly displayed on the LCD display as either an insulation resistance or a leakage current and a flashing LED and segments on the display indicate any dangerous voltage.
