Original Press Release:

Advanced Line of Automated Low Temperature Instrumentation!

Koehler Instrument Company, Inc. is pleased to introduce our improved line of Automated Low Temperature Instruments now integrated with a panel PC. These newly redesigned instruments incorporate a touch screen panel along with an advanced software package. All analytical parameters are graphed and displayed in real time on the clear 6.4" TFT/LCD touch screen display with a resolution of 640x480. All information displayed on the screen is also recorded in Microsoft® Excel compatible file format. Our new advanced software package monitors the operation and performance of all analyzer components to ensure accurate data measurement.

Maintaining the reliability and versatility of the previous models, the improved instruments are also available with either a one-stage or two-stage cooling system. This direct cooling system utilizes less electricity than standard cooling systems and can reach these low temperatures quickly, in approximately 15 minutes. It is especially consistent and ensures repeatable results with high test reproducibility. The automated instruments can be configured with up to six test positions with one of five possible test heads at each position: cloud point, pour point, cloud & pour point, freezing point and cold filter plugging point.

The new line can test a range of measurements including cloud point, pour point, a combination of cloud & pour point, cold filter plugging point, and freezing point. The Cloud Point analyzer conforms to ASTM D2500 and records the highest temperature at which a cloud is first observed at the bottom of the test jar. The Pour Point analyzer which conforms to ASTM D97 records the lowest temperature at which movement of the specimen is observed. Conforming to ASTM D6371, the Cold Filter Plugging Point analyzer determines the lowest temperature at which a fuel will give trouble-free flow in certain fuel systems. Finally, the Freezing Point analyzer which conforms to ASTM D2386 determines the lowest temperature at which the fuel remains free of solid hydrocarbon crystals that can restrict the flow of fuel through filters if present in the fuel system of an aircraft. In addition to the test methods stated above, these low temperature analyzers can conform to a wide array of related low temperature specifications. Please consult a Koehler Customer Service Representative regarding your technical application.

Ensuring safety while providing the latest equipment to the petrochemical industry is our goal and to this end we have incorporated various safety features. An audible alarm and message display on the screen notifies the operator at the end of analysis and also gives warning for any errors or malfunctions that may have occurred. Motor compressors are all equipped with internal overload devices and 1st and 2nd stage motor compressors are equipped with pressure controllers.

The improved line of Automated Low Temperature Instrumentation is available from Koehler Instrument Company, Inc, a leading producer and supplier of petroleum, synfuels, petrochemical and biofuels instrumentation worldwide.
