Inspection Software provides NDT reliability.

Press Release Summary:

Galaxy II upgrade for RI-2000 Quantitative Resonance Inspection software includes VIPR pattern recognition module. VIPR is used to create Part Sorting module and QProduct program for production inspection. It provides sorting of defective and good parts based on sophisticated data modeling. QRI software is effective in detecting critical structural defects in powder metal and aluminum casting applications because it inspects both hidden and surface defects.

Quasar International Announces RI-2000 Software Upgrade

VIPR expected to significantly improve NDT reliability

ALBUQUERQUE-January 14, 2002-Quasar International, Inc. today announced immediate availability of Galaxy II, the latest release of the Quasar RI-2000 Quantitative Resonance Inspection (QRI) software suite. This release, part of the ongoing enhancement program for the RI-2000, enables companies using the Resonance Inspection system to incorporate the latest enhancements to Quasar's flagship product. The most notable of these is a new version of the Quasar Pattern Recognition program, VIPR, which achieves unprecedented sorting of defective and good parts based on sophisticated data modeling, while improving the speed, ease of use and reliability of the inspection system setup.

"This latest release of the Galaxy suite, now including VIPR, is a significant advance in making reliable, low cost NDT available to parts manufacturers," said Jim Schwarz, president of
Quasar International. "It builds on the solid QRI technology that has set a new standard for NDT, quantified, structural part inspection. Plants that would otherwise would face containment or
quarantine issues can keep product flowing and customers pleased by reliably monitoring quality with Quasar RI."

Extraordinary Breadth of Application

The Quasar NDT systems have successful applications inspecting parts made by many processes. Most notably, powder metal and aluminum casting applications have increased recently. Customers say that the QRI systems are uniquely effective in detecting critical structural defects in these applications because the Quasar system inspects for all structural defects, both hidden and those that break the surface. The machine also may run unattended, passing or rejecting parts based on management's established criteria.

"Our customers need reliable NDT that removes human errors and reduces inspection cost," said Bob Nath. Vice President of Sales for Quasar. "QRI does that, and also delivers further benefits by reducing scrap and delivering immediate feedback on the state of the process."

Quasar Galaxy II Availability

The Galaxy II software upgrade is the complete Quasar Resonance Inspection software suite, including Galaxy, the supervisory, development and execution module, VIPR, the Pattern Recognition module used to create the part Sorting Module, and QProduct, the program used for production inspection.
