Seco-Carboloy Expands Its Versatile MDT(TM) Offerings

New inserts and grades now available

Warren, Mich., June 10, 2003 - Seco-Carboloy has expanded its versatile MDT(TM) (Multi-Directional Turning) system with an array of new products including threading inserts, precision grooving inserts, and new cast iron grades. Like all MDT products, the new inserts can be used with an existing MDT toolholder.

Available in CP500 grade, the new MDT threading inserts feature partial profiles of 60° for UN and ISO threads, and 55° whitworth threads, covering a wide range of thread pitches to reduce inventory. The inserts can produce Right- and Left-hand threads both toward and away from the chuck.

The expanded line of MDT grooving inserts also includes the new CP500 grade for a wide range of material applicability. In the 13 mm - style, these inserts are best suited for small bore and face machining applications.

Also, new for MDT is Grade TK150 for all cast irons. TK150 also works well in hardened steel applications.

The MDT system uses a single toolholder and insert for turning, profiling and grooving in both axial and radial directions. The unique clamping action of the MDT toolholder provides a rigid and stable contact surface several times stronger than competitive systems. MDT's versatility offers improved productivity through fewer tool changes and machine stops. It also simplifies tool handling and stocking requirements by replacing the need for several conventional tools.
