Inserts are suited for high-speed aluminum machining.

Press Release Summary:

Offered with corner radius choices from 0.8-6.4 mm, Mill1 Max tooling includes end mills, shell mills, and integral shank (monoblock) toolholders. All monoblocks come balanced to specification of G2.5 at 10,000 rpm, and face topography delivers chip control at reduced cutting forces. Products produce true 90° walls at 25 mm axial depth of cut and are suited for high-speed cutting (25,000 rpm for 1.5 in. cutter) of aerospace aluminum alloys.

Original Press Release:

Mill1 Max from Kennametal: Maximum High-Speed Aluminum Machining

(LATROBE, PA) - Engineered to provide maximum productivity in high-speed, high-feed machining of aerospace aluminum alloys, such as 7075, the new Mill1 Max line of tooling from Kennametal can also prove very successful in automotive, die/mold, and other aluminum machining applications.

Benchmarked against other high-speed milling inserts in its class, Mill1 Max scored highest in providing superior surface finish, true 90-degree walls at 25-mm axial depth of cut, and high-speed cutting (25,000 rpm for a 1.5-inch cutter, or 9800 sfm).

Mill1 Max is being introduced with a complete line of corner radius choices from 0.8 through 6.4 mm together with end mills, shell mills, and integral shank (monoblock) toolholders. All monoblocks come balanced by Kennametal to a specification of G2.5 at 10,000 rpm and are balanceable to higher specifications if required.

In addition to better surface finish and true 90-degree walls, the face topography of Mill1 Max inserts deliver excellent chip control at reduced cutting forces. These are key performance requirements of many aerospace applications, and also serve to improve a wide range of aluminum machining applications.
