Sandvik Coromant Takes a New Giant Leap Within Short Hole Drilling

The U-drill evolution has now come to the next breakthrough that will substantially improve production economy within hole making.

Sandvik Coromant is now introducing CoroDrill 880 with the new patent pending insert technology "Step-Tech" for outstanding cutting force balance, providing significantly improvement in productivity as well as of the hole quality.

The unique shaped center insert with its "Step-Tech" technology facilitates a smooth entrance into the workpiece and a perfect cutting force balance enabling up to 100% higher feed rates - and the cost per drilled hole cut by half.

The close tolerance designed inserts with four cutting edges and Wiper geometry have a favorable impact on the hole tolerances and the surface finish, suited for threading holes.

A comprehensive choice of insert geometries and grades will make it possible to optimize the performance in different applications and materials.

The versatility of the drill can be used to perform helical interpolation, plunge drilling, boring etc.

CoroDrill 880 will be introduced in several releases and will cover diameters 12.00 - 63.50 mm (0.473" - 2.500") in four different lengths 2 - 5xD.
